USING THE PROJECT METHOD ON GERMAN LESSONS AT PRIMARY SCHOOL

Анотація

The article is devoted to using the project method on German lessons at primary school. The main types of projects are characterized, game, research and creative ones are among them. 

The different approaches to classification of projects are revealed. They may be individual, group and collective ones in accordance with the number of pupils who take part in the project; according to the time spent on the realization of the project they may be short, of medium duration, and long. For their thematic orientation they may be of different types: language, ecological, ethnographical, country study etc. The practical examples that are taken from the modern school textbooks of the German language for primary school are given to the each project type. In the authors’ opinion the innovative aspects of the project method are those that pupils are given an opportunity to compose the contents of communication beginning at the first project lesson. At the German language course the project method can be used within the program material of almost any topic. It is emphasized that using the project method allows to solve a number of problems, such as increasing the level of pupils’ cognitive activity, of individual and collective responsibility, and enhancing the role of independent work. It is proved that the older pupils are the more complicated the tasks of project are getting. The authors think that in the third form it is advisable to implement the country study contents to projects. So the project method contributes to the main goal of foreign language mastering – forming the communicative competence at the elementary level.
