DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE PRACTIONER PSYCHOLOGISTS COMMUNICATIVE TOLERANCE: THEORETICAL AND APPLIED ASPECT

Abstract

The relevance of the problem of developing future practioner psychologists’ communicative tolerance is evident as the conditions of modern socio-political and cultural-historical situation in Ukraine require the search of new educational methods and forms for supporting the training of highly skilled specialists in the sphere of psychology.

The issue of tolerance is widely reflected in the works, devoted to defining the essence of tolerance in the ontology of public consciousness and self-consciousness (V. Zolotukhin, O. Kondakov, V. Krasykov et al.), the role of tolerance in the process of gaining the personal integrity (O. Asmolov, Ye. Kazakov, V. Tyshkov et al.), tolerance as the category of relations (O. Klieptsova, V. Maralov, V. Sytarov et al.), tolerance as a personal trait (S. Bondyrieva, D. Kolesov et al.), communicative tolerance (V. Boiko, A. Skok et al.).

The scientists regard the concept “tolerance” as a personality’s attitude to other people, which is characterized by the respect and recognition of the equality of the other personality, the refuse from the domination, the recognition of multidimentionality and diversity of human culture, norms, and beliefs. The detailed analysis of psychological approaches to this category contributes to the definition of the concept “communicative tolerance” as conscious and active communicative relations that arise between the subjects of the interaction in the process of social, educational, cultural life and activities and are based on the acceptance of other personality as a value, his/her right to be different, readiness to understand the other person’s world and ability to save his/her own personality.

The communicative tolerance of a practioner psychologist is a person’s professionally important quality which is subordinated to the targets, content and features of his/her activities and manifests in establishing the effective communicative relations with the subjects of communication. In psychological science there are some methodological approaches to understanding the essence and content of the phenomenon “tolerance”, in particular they are psycho-physiological, interactive, personal, humanistic, social-psychological, and situational approach.

The social and psychological conditions for developing a practioner psychologist’s communicative tolerance are: the high level of welfare of the society; saving the original culture; the presence of the feeling of personal dignity, which gives an opportunity to respect the culture and individuality of others; the adequate social and ethical identity; long period of gaining the communicative experience; following the human rights; establishing the civil society.

The main socio-psychological means of developing a practioner psychologist’s communicative tolerance are: developing right attributives about a personality and human behaviour; learning to communicate, free of prejudices and partiality; prevention of partiality; giving complete and accurate information to people for reducing intolerance and inconfidence; creating conditions for close and mutually beneficial interaction of different social groups.

It is concluded that a practioner psychologist’s communicative tolerance is a complex phenomenon that is considered to be a complex of knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as the specialists’ personal qualities that ensure the successful interaction of a psychologist and a client. According to its structure, it is presented as a multiaspect personal formation that includes functionally interrelated and interconnected components. Developing the communicative tolerance of specialists in the sphere of psychology is organized educational process, oriented to students’ personal development and the improvement of their individual traits, which are shown up in interpersonal relations and activities.

Key words tolerance; cmmunicative tollerance; practioner psychologist’s communicative tolerance; a personality’s substructure; components of practioner psychologist’s communicative tolerance.
