THE COURSE “SOCIAL NETWORKS FOR PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITY” FOR FUTURE TEACHER TRAINING

Abstract

The article deals with the practical issues of introducing the optional course “Social Networks in Pedagogical Activities” in the system of training future educators. It has been found that social networks provide the teacher with a number of new opportunities for improving the educational process, such as creating a holistic ICT-oriented educational environment, expanding the resource base of subject education, providing multidisciplinary pedagogical support to students, and ensuring transparency of educational process.

The content of the course “Social Networks in Pedagogical Activity” is highlighted. The content modules of the course are singled out, namely: module “Social networks: basic concepts, history and development trends, comparative characteristics of social networks of general (mass) purpose”, module “The use of social networks in the educational process”, module “Social network as a tool for personal professional improvement and advancement of the teacher”.

The topics of content modules and the tasks offered for independent work of students are specified. The first module provides for the consideration of such topics: the concept of social network, the peculiarities of its functioning; history, evolution, tendencies of social networks development; characteristics of the most widespread social networks according to statistical data (geographical, quantitative, demographic indicators); statistical data on the use of social networks by students and students of Ukraine. The second module covers topics: world-wide experience of using social networks for educational purposes; educational potential of social networks of mass destination, directions and specificity of their use for educational purposes; social networks of educational purpose, their functional features, comparative analysis, and peculiarities of the use. The third module includes the topics: the formation of a professional image of the teacher in social networks, the ethical principles and peculiarities of pedagogical communication in social networks; vocational and pedagogical associations in social networks and their role in acquiring professional pedagogical skills; the use of social networks for netting and marketing.

The expected results of the study by future teachers of educational discipline “Social networks in pedagogical activity” are described.
